I can't comment on the battery life yet, but will when my ADT Security key fobs die again.The Duracells lasted 6 months before having limited range, and then another 2 months before croaking altogether.The thing that suprised me was that they both died at the same time, in spite of one getting used much more than the other.

Wish there was a longer life equivalent, such as a lithium, but I have been unable to find one.

Edit;
Just hit 6 months and the key fobs are still going strong.Looks like battery life is at least as good as the Duracell, so far.

I bought this because my remote quit working and wouldn't work after I put a new battery in it. I even tried the programming procedure described in the owner's manual, with no success.
The kit has one spare remote and very easy instructions to reprogram your new remote.
As a matter of fact it is possible that the only thing you really need is the instructions: When I received the kit, I tried the reprogramming procedure on my old remote and it worked! I didn't even need the new one. This is why I suggest you look online for the proper reprogramming procedure before you buy this; you may not need a new remote, just the proper programming instructions.
If you do need a new remote though, buy this. Don't go to a Chevy dealer; They'll charge you probably around $50 to reprogram your remote, and much more if they take you for a ride (like they tell you your car needs a new BCM for instance).

Central Power Door Locking System Review

I installed the power door lock modules in a 1994 GMC 3500 dump truck.The truck had no power locks and no power windows.

Adding the power lock motors into the doors does take an average amount of mechanical skill.This is not a job for a complete novice.

After pulling the interior door skins and peeling back the moisture barrier I had to choose a location for the lock motors.I found a location that didn't interfere with the window crank mechanism and was inline with the exsisting door lock linkage.After mounting the motors with the included hardware I had to bend and trim the included push/pull rod that links the motors to the existing lock, which was pretty easy.I attached the bent rod to the motors and the existing lock linkage with the included clamp.

I then drilled a 3/4" hole into both door jams (driver/passenger) and ran the included wire harness to the included lock control module.I used tie wraps to attach the module securely under the driver side dash.I connected the red wire to a spare + lug on the fuse block and the black to a chassis ground.

After testing the system, I put the doors back together.The whole process took about 4 hours (with lots of breaks).It should be able to be completed in about 3 hours, even less if you have a helper.

The nice thing about a "central locking" system is if you unlock/lock one door by the existing door lock button or by the key, the other door unlocks/locks by power.

After installing the lock system I installed a remote start into this vehicle.The lock module has 2 spare wires to connect to a keyless entry system, which I used.It works flawlessly.I've been using this for about 2 months now with no problems.For the money...you can't beat it.

1) Sony does not put an expiration date, nor a made on date on these batteries! How do you know if they were made 5 years ago and about to expire?You don't.In fact, they could be expired (and worthless) right now.

2) Sony customer service is useful if you just want aggravation or entertainment.Response to emails to customer service took 3 weeks and given the language difficulties in the response are hard to trust.The response at one customer service phone number is someone who knows nothing about Sony products.No one at Sony knows what the 85 that is stamped on each battery means, whether it means made 5/2008 or if it means 85 mAh of power.Finally, the entertaining part is that one of the customer service numbers gets you to a female voice that asks for your credit card number so that you can talk to a naked woman (oh boy).When I told the person at the first Sony customer service phone number about this, she said they have known about it, other customers have mentioned it -- in other words,they're just too lazy to fix it.

I'd also recommend staying away from Panasonic lithium coin batteries as they have had a counterfeit problem in the past per internet search.So, although I would not buy overpriced batteries at a local store, I would advise staying away from these 2 manufacturers, and consider the effort needed to change a watch battery in a final choice about buying batteries with no known expiration date.

It says it's black with plastic housing, but it's actually metal.The only plastic is within the metal shell, and I doubt that would be any problem.The image is quite good during the day.The drawback to a wide-angle view is that objects are closer than they appear.But at least you can see behind well.At night, the image is grainy, but you can still see quite well despite that fact that it does not have any IR lighting.It's not necessary.

This unit has an odd hook up compared to most of these license plate cameras.All of the connections are at the end of the long cable, some 25+ feet away from the camera.Most units expect you to hook into the rear tail light for reverse power up, but this one seems to want to you to hook up to the reverse relay coming out of the fuse box I (no direction on that, you have to figure out your wiring yourself since every car is different).Googling your car model and backup camera will likely yield results.The forward connection worked fine for me as this connection was easily available.Then I ran the video cable through the firewall existing hole.So the junction connections are in an area under the hood.I put them into a "project box" from Radio Shack to tidy things up, and velcro'd the box to the side wall.I ran the cable under the car and used the same type of cable covering/housing that the rest of the wiring for the car uses.Home Depot sells 10' sections for less than three dollars.Zip tied it along the frame, being careful to avoid areas that will get hot (tailpipe, etc).

Why'd I give it 3 stars?The 4 individual wires are quite small, and the camera connects to the long cable by a tiny connector plug that is not waterproof (short-out potential?).I guess they probably expect this will be inside your car, but trucks don't work that way.I taped it up with electrical tape and it is also in the aforementioned cable housing, so I'm sure it will be fine.The forward connection is a nice seemingly waterproof connection, similar to an s-video plug.For me reversing these would have been a better idea, but I can see why they did it:the tiny one is much more flush if it's inside the car.

Certainly worth it for the money.Hopefully it'll last.

This product had a tweeter stop working for me a short while into the warranty period.I called Infinity corp. and they stated thatI had to make a claim through the dealer I bought the system from, in this case it was E & B Electronics. As ridiculous as this sounds I tried it. The guy that answered the phone at E&B told me there is no way they will stand behind the product I bought from them.Then the guy actually tells me "We are not even an authorized dealer, we are just a store that sells a lot of different stuff."UNBELEIVABLE!!Did you know that Amazon apparently sells (through third-party partners like E&B Electronics) grey-market electronics, for which the manufacturer will not honor the stated warranty?I would not have believed this. When Amazon customer assistance did a three way call (which amazon wisely recorded) with mequietly listening to try to resolve this with the dealer, they ranted on at the Amazon representative, and told him to not "even to try to get a word in edgewise, because I can go on like this all day", then he abruptly hung up.The Amazon representative was as shocked at this display of unprofessional treatment towards the company that directs thousands of dollars of sales to them as I was.
In closing, I would highly recommend nobody buy any Infinity product from E&B Electronics as the warranty is not valid, and you will have no recourse if anything goes wrong with your expensive purchase. Stay away from these two companies.

this cable took me all of 10 mins to install, including pulling out my stereo. it works exactly as stated, but the one caveat is that you have to give up ALL control over your ipod and normal stereo controls. forget being able to skip or go back to the previous tracks, b/c it locks out everything except the +/- volume control. i can't even pause my stereo anymore when my mobile rings or i pull up to a drive thru window. i have to turn off the stereo completely, or bring the volume down to 0. needless to say, i'm ordering the Pioneer CD-IB100ii iPod® Interface Adapter for $50, which gives you back the control and displays the track/album/artist info on your stereo faceplate. for the $30 difference in price, the Pioneer CD-IB100ii iPod® Interface Adapter is worth the extra money, as i should've just ordered it in the first place. the 3 stars here are for the fact that the cable gives you good, crisp, clean sound through your stereo, just as it says it will do, as well as having the ability to connect other peripherals to the cable too. the lack of control is the deal killer for me!

I received the remote from this company in a timely fashion. I followed the directions to program the remote to no avail. I actually tried to program the remote at least 5x and it still would not work. I had a 2nd remote from the manufacturer that was not purchased via this e-tailer and the directions worked for that remote.I contacted the company via email at least 5x. I got a reply indicating a return number and they said to send it back for an exchange. I did this but due to my own negligence of not sending it back with a tracking number, they claimed they never received it back. I emailed them at least 4x before they replied saying they received nothing back from me and I have never heard from them since. I would rate their customer service a ZERO as well as the product they sent me not working.I am out the money and the remote.

The instructions that came with this key fob made everything so simple and easy.I literally had the Remote fob linked up within 1 minute.
I linked my Remote fob up to a 2003 Chevy Tracker ZR2.
What may be confusing to some is that you have to take a fuse and a couple separate pieces of wire that are approx 2" long and create kind of a 'fuse bridge' between the #4 and #8 slots of your 'Code Reading Outlet'.
I forget what the lil' plug-in is called exactly but it's the outlet that if you were needing a code read on you vehicle.........that's the place they plug into to read the code.

The title says it all. There is no way these keys cost anywhere near $125 to produce. I needed a second key for my wife and it killed me to pay it, but we needed it. Dodge knows they've got you backed into a corner with the computer chip in the keys and they can charge what they want for it. Shame on you, Dodge!

I'm glad I did! The remote is IDENTICAL to the factory remote I already had, right down to the text embossed on the back. Literally you could not tell which was which if you had them side by side. I got this for my 2006 Sentra 1.8S.I already had power locks, so I thought why not give this product a try (because I didn't have one of these at the time).Within a week, I got it in the mail.The instructions I received were clear, however, it might take a few tries to get your keyless entry working if you messed up on one of the steps.

The way the keyless entry works is pretty self-explanatory, but one feature I discovered was if you press and hold the unlock button, then it will unlock all the doors. If you just push the Unlock button, it will only open the driver's side door.

Overall, this product works and I'm planning on getting another one soon.

be aware that the programming for this little beast is complex -it required me to remove my glove box to access the module and inserting the programming chip was not easy. The instructions did not indicate which way the chip is inserted either (it will go either way). I also did not get the blinking dash light they said I would to indicate that the programming "took". Having said that, it did take and now the unit works fine. 1/2 the cost of a stock BMW transmitter, if you can even find one (1997).

When you recieve stuff like this, that is NOT affilated with your dealer, you are a little concerned about quality. Well, not this company. This company provides FAST response to e-mails and delivers a product with great instructions and quality.

Now when I bought my car my dirtbag Dealer ( [DriveOne] DONT BUY FROM THEM) did not include a Keyless entry remote. So I went online and searched for keyless entry remotes. OMG it was horriable. I saw them as high as $129. But this company based in California had the lowest price - and it was backed by Amazon. To I ordered it - and got in well within the time they estimated for me.

To enter the ID code, follow this procedure.

Entering "Setting mode":
(1) Close and lock all doors.

(2) Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.) At this time, the original ID codes are eliminated.

ID code entry:
(3) Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.

(4) Push lock button on the new remote controller once (for example, if door is locked using the remote controller during this ID code entry enable state, a new ID code can be entered). At this time, the new ID code is entered. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.)

Additional ID code entry
(5) If you need to activate additional remote controllers, unlock the driver's door, then lock again with door lock knob.

(6) Push lock button on the additional new remote controller once.

(7) This ID code entry enable state and setting mode remain until the driver's door is opened.

NOTE
If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat the procedure "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.
If the same ID code that exists in the memory is input, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice but the entry will be ignored.
Entry of maximum four ID codes is allowed and any attempt to enter more will be ignored.

To enter the ID code, follow this procedure.

Entering "Setting mode":
(1) Close and lock all doors.

(2) Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.) At this time, the original ID codes are eliminated.

ID code entry:
(3) Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.

(4) Push lock button on the new remote controller once (for example, if door is locked using the remote controller during this ID code entry enable state, a new ID code can be entered). At this time, the new ID code is entered. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.)

Additional ID code entry
(5) If you need to activate additional remote controllers, unlock the driver's door, then lock again with door lock knob.

(6) Push lock button on the additional new remote controller once.

(7) This ID code entry enable state and setting mode remain until the driver's door is opened.

NOTE
If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat the procedure "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.
If the same ID code that exists in the memory is input, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice but the entry will be ignored.

This product is flashy in the box, but it has several glitches that keep it from truly shining.
1 (A+)Easy installation with an intuitive wiring layout. They include the wiring harness for both Acura and Honda makes, and a return box so that you can easily recycle the wiring harness you don't use. Yeah for green thumbs!
2 (C)This unit requires that you have a pass through device such as their unit, the Peripheral PXAMG Universal iPod Adapter. The unit would be MUCH better as an ALL-IN-ONE Aux/Ipod/HD radio input. Making room for both units in your car is somewhat difficult at times. In fact I would go one better and incorporate a switch for the antenna input so that you can use your car antenna with both the OEM radio tuner, or the HD tuner (with this device you un-hook from the OEM radio making all antenna inputs go through the HD tuner). I will explain in depth shortly.
3 (D)The printed instructions are INACCURATE/INCOMPLETE. upon completing install I attempted to use the unit and thought for certain that it was broken. Fiddling with my radio I stumbled upon the correct manner to start the HD tuner/Aux input selector. A couple times practicing it and now I find it easy. For my car the correct method is to change from sat/cd input to FM/AM, then change back to sat/cd; following this you must (within 4 seconds) press the seek forward/backward button and hold it for 5 seconds. This causes the menu of options to start scrolling wildly, listing AUX/SAT/IPOD/HD Radio. I have to release and then tap the arrow button to the input I want, release for 4 secs and viola the input starts.
4 ****(D-)The Sound Quality is on par with satellite radio (when you are listening to HD channels). However there are some catches. It seems the radio tunes to the local standard FM channel first, then if HD is present on the same frequency it switches over to HD. This can cause a slight stutter in audio with a noticeable change in quality and sound plus a loss in synch of audio as most HD stations aren't in perfect synch. If your radio is having problems tracking the HD signal then there is an annoying switch back and forth from standard FM to FM-HD. It appears in the form of constant stuttering in audio with a noticeable upgrade/downgrade in sound quality; not to mention the loss in audio synch as mentioned before. I have found that this issue may have to do with how the tuner selects which signal it will track. You may have a good signal with the HD tuner, but if the FM tuner is stronger the unit will swap back and forth. I find this issue UNBEARABLE and have gone the effort of installing a pass-through with switch for the antenna cable so that I can use the built in FM tuner rather than the HD tuner for certain stations that show this problem due to reception in my area.
5 (C-)When switching to the HD tuner the display on my radio still reads that it is on XM satellite input. I can deal with that except that unless I am paying attention to how many times I have selected the input I won't know if I am on AM-HD or FM-HD. It can be a little distracting trying to select the channel while driving. Also, about 1 in 6 or 7 times when selecting the HD tuner the front panel control inputs from my radio do not get accepted by the HD tuner and I am forced to change to standard FM tuner and back to get the controls to respond. Annoying, but livable.
6 (A-)AUX input (I don't have an IPOD so I can't review that side), the unit (Peripheral PXAMG Universal iPod Adapter) that is required to make the HDRT work will ONLY allow you to have 2 of the 3 possible inputs at a time. Your options are: HDRT, AUX (mini stereo 3/8inch plus R/L RCA type), and IPOD. This is livable, but they should have been able to combine all the inputs into a single cable, or used a switch, or some other ingenuity.
7 (A+)AUX input sound quality is superb, if a little quiet. I had to turn up my MP3 player to be able to hear it well on the radio.

I bought this product for my acura RDX to be used with VIPER 5901.I'm not a mechanic guru so I trusted the website's compatibility wizard and bought canmax400dei thinking it'd be 100% compatible with my car.Everywhere on the website Directed Electronics emphasized its compatibility with my car, except for one single line in the installation manual where it mentions that once the car has been remote started, the remote will not be able to unlock the doors.This is a serious design flaw and Directed Electronics is deliberately deceiving potential buyers on its website.For consumers like me who do not plan to install by ourself, we'd never find the problem until we bought the product.

I called Directed support line, and they merely dismissed my problem by saying that "the module mimics what the factory key fob would do - ie. unlock and lock doors + remote start the engine".Their argument is that if my keyfob can't remotes start engine AND unlock doors at the same time, why should canmax400dei be expected to do it.This is very bad business practice and I will certainly be reporting this to BBB in hopes that others will not fall victim to Directed Electronics' malicious practice.I would caution all buyers to check the installation manual to make sure you do not miss any line.If you can't read manuals very well like me, it's best to visit forums and purchase modules that others have tested to be 100% compatible.I HOPE NO OTHER RDX OWNERS WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I HAVE GONE THROUGH.

This unit is also not 100% compatible with CRV, Civic, CSX.So buyers beware!

UPDATE: I found a better/cheaper alternative for canmax400dei for those with the vehicles I mentioned above.idataLink ADS-AL CA is easy to install and does everything canmax does and more!not to mention it's less than $55 after shipping at other online stores.I strongly recommend it! I have bumped the review from 2 stars down to 1 since canmax really pales in comparison to idatalink.

I have been dealing with Avital alarms on my vehicles for years now. This particular model was my first 2way alarm, and I'm extremely satisfied with it. I do recommend professional installation. If I had one thing to comment on is that I wish it came with a better sensor which detected glass breakage. You really have to set the sensor to a high setting to get a warning chirp when banging or leaning on the vehicle.

Purchased the Alert Model 450R in late Dec. 09, had it installed by a company that sells remote starters, alarms,stereos,etc. 3 days later, one of the key fob remotes quit working, was promised a replacement over the phone by the company handling warranty work for Alert. That was about a month ago & I'm still waiting. Meanwhile,the other key fob [it came with 2] is retiring from service as I write this. I have an class C RV that I wanted a rear view monitor installed in.I was set up with an installer that had never installed a monitor system in an RV.The installer took the challenge and successfully installed the monitor.Upon leaving the installer I discovered that the monitor was set to 'mirror image' and everything I viewed in the monitor was backwards.Very upsetting on the interstate.Got product info off of the internet for the item which let me to a switch on the silver box under the dash that put the image right.the installer forgot to give me the operator's manual, but found it and I picked it up later.After the installation the installer told me that the InstallCard was a good deal because he probably would have charged me double to do the job.That comment should be weighed on the fact that he started off not knowing what he was doing.All in all I am pleased with what I received.
